The sorceress Morgan le Fay appears on a bullion coin following coins that featured King Arthur and Merlin as part of the series celebrating Arthurian legend as part of our Myths and Legends Collection. 

First appearing in Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Vita Merlini, Morgan le Fay is an established figure in the legends surrounding King Arthur. In the many versions of these mythic tales, Morgan le Fay’s character swings from benevolent to malevolent and she is often said to possess supernatural power. 

David Lawrence, an accomplished artist who has created numerous coin designs, including others in the Myths and Legends Collection, has portrayed Morgan le Fay as a powerful enchantress. The dark side of her character is accentuated in the design, with the dynamic pose suggesting she is about to unleash a terrifying spell.
