The foundation stone of the home was laid by Princess Alexandra herself and relates to the medal’s symbolic design. The obverse displays the bare head bust of Princess Alexandra, facing left, whilst the reverse shows a ribbon inscribed with ‘HANBURY MEMORIAL PRIZE’.
