Originally designed by The Royal Mint engraver Thomas Simon, this Petition Crown features a beautifully remastered design that first appeared in 1663. Confined to a smaller engraving role in favour of John Roettier, Simon’s Petition Crown carried a direct petition to Charles II around its edge, entreating his reinstatement to engraving the coinage. Remastered using modern techniques, this Petition Crown Christmas decoration pays homage to one of history’s celebrated designs.
