10th July 2024: It’s all hands on deck this summer at The Royal Mint Experience, as pirates take over the visitor attraction based in Llantrisant, South Wales.
From scavenger hunts to live pirate shows, The Royal Mint Experience will host a bounty of events suitable for all ages this summer. The pirate events will be hosted every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the summer holidays from 31 July to 26 August.
This summer’s pirate theme is in-keeping with the current “Coins and the Sea” exhibition, which dives into the history of coins and their journey across the high seas. Explorers will also be able to get close to sunken treasure from Davy Jones’ Locker.
For the first time, the Royal Mint Experience will be offering tours in British Sign Language. These tours will be available on Sunday 4th August and Sunday 1st September.
Dan Johnson, Visitor Attraction Manager at The Royal Mint Experience said: “Ahoy matey! We can’t wait to welcome explorers to The Royal Mint Experience as they set sail on an historic adventure this summer.
“I’m especially proud that we are offering our award-winning tours in British Sign Language for the first time, ensuring an inclusive experience for all our visitors. We hope that everyone leaves with a lasting memory.”
In a special nod to this year’s Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, The Royal Mint Experience will also host an exclusive exhibition showcasing the incredible talent of sportspeople in Wales. Visitors will come face-to-face with medals and artefacts from The Royal Mint and Commonwealth Games Wales and explore fascinating stories from nearly 100 years of competition to discover what it takes to become a professional athlete.
The popular visitor attraction was also recently awarded, for the second time, the Best Guided Tour in the UK at this year's Group Leisure Travel Awards as well as Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Award for the 5th year running. This comes as the highly anticipated Christmas events have opened up purchases for pre-booked tickets to secure visitor places.
The Royal Mint Experience is currently open seven days a week from 09:15am, with tours running from 9:30am to 3pm. To find out more and to book tickets, visit www.royalmint.com/experience
