Source of Wealth Check

An investment over a certain value needs to be verified by The Royal Mint’s compliance team. As part of their checks, they require evidence of how you have accrued your wealth. There is a wide range of documentary evidence that we can accept to confirm the source of wealth. The following is a non-exhaustive list. If your source of wealth has been generated through other means, please contact us for advice.

Savings - Income

Savings are normally accrued from an income such as a salary, pension, annuity or rental properties. We will require 6 months’ salary, pension, annuity, or rental statements. We will also require bank statements for the same 6-month period showing the money being received from your employer/pension/annuity/managing agent and the accumulation of wealth.

If you have multiple bank accounts for your savings, then you will need to provide 6 months’ bank statements for each of your bank accounts.

In the absence of salary, pension, annuity, or rental statements, please provide statements issued by your relevant tax authority, evidencing source and amount of income. Please note that we will still require bank statements for the previous 6-month period showing the money being received from your employer/pension/annuity/managing agent and the accumulation of wealth.

Dividends

Please provide a copy of your dividend certificate, a copy of the company’s audited accounts and a copy of your bank account statement showing the money being received from the company.

Release of Pension/Investment Policy

Please provide a copy of your pension/investment policy statement and a copy of your bank account statement showing the money being received from the pension company.

Sale of Shares

Please provide a copy of the share release schedule and a copy of your bank account statement showing the money being received from the company.

If the company in question has been liquated and the receipt of funds is from the company’s liquidation, then we would require a copy of the signed letter from the official liquidator and a copy of your bank account statement showing the money being received.

Sale of Property

Please provide a copy of the signed completion statement from your solicitors and a copy of your bank account statement showing the money being received from the solicitors following completion.

Inheritance

Please provide a copy of the signed letter from the solicitors/executors stating how much you are being paid as a beneficiary and a copy of your bank account statement showing the money being received from the solicitor/executor’s bank account.

In the absence of a signed letter from the solicitors/executors, we will require a copy of the grant of probate with a copy of the will and your bank account statement showing the money having been received from the solicitor/executor’s bank account.

Gambling Winnings

Please provide a copy of your receipt proving your winnings and a copy of your bank account statement showing the money being received from the gambling company.

Compensation Award, Court Settlement or Divorce Settlement

Please provide a copy of a signed letter confirming your settlement from a solicitor and/or court and a copy of your bank statement showing the money being received from the third party/court/solicitor.

Gift

Please provide a signed letter from the person making the gift. The person making the gift will also have to prove the source of wealth in the same manner as you would have to.
