The Royal Mint at the World’s Fair of Money

The Royal Mint

August 2023

The American Numismatic Association (ANA) hosted the World Fair of Money in Pittsburgh, USA between the 9-12 August this year. The event is one of the highlights of the industry calendar, attracting thousands of businesses, investors and collectors from the worlds of bullion, commemorative and historic coins. The Royal Mint was pleased to attend the event, with a delegation of team members from across our Precious Metal, Commemorative and Historic and Rare Coin divisions, meeting with international partners to share upcoming plans and product roadmaps.

This year represented the first time that The Royal Mint featured a physical stand at the World’s Fair of Money, which received a warm welcome from the American audience. The stand showcased the newly launched limited-edition Coronation Bullion Coin Range, alongside a few recent launches from the Commemorative division including the first coin from our ‘Star Wars’ series, and ‘The Police’ coin from our Music Legends range.

The Royal Mint’s expertise in craftsmanship and design was also recognised with an award from the ANA for ‘Best Contemporary Coin’ for the commemorative coin celebrating ‘50 Years of Pride’. There was also great excitement amongst attendees for the upcoming ‘Royal Succession’ bullion auction, which takes place on the 21 August. On behalf of The Royal Mint, Stack’s Bowers will be auctioning off the last struck bullion coin batch featuring Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy, and the first struck bullion coin batch featuring the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III. Andrew Dickey, Divisional Director of Precious Metals at The Royal Mint, who attended this year’s ANA event commented: “The Royal Mint’s name is world-renowned, so it was great for our Precious Metals team to be amongst investors and coin enthusiasts globally, showcasing our iconic range of bullion coin and bars.

“We had the opportunity to chat directly to customers and hear how respected our Britannia coins and bars are as part of their diverse investment portfolios. Our Coronation Bullion Coin Range also received fantastic feedback, and there’s real excitement around some future releases”.
